Comments Off on NL Active supports carers with half-price concession card for Active April
In celebration of Active April, NL Active is proud to support carers by offering a 50% discount on Active Concession Cards throughout the month. This special offer is part of the wider Carers Active April campaign, run by Carers UK, which encourages carers to stay active and look after their own health and wellbeing.
During April, carers can purchase a 12-month concession card for just £3—half the usual price. The card provides discounted access to a range of health and fitness activities including gym sessions, swimming, and racket sports at NL Active venues.
To qualify for the discounted concession card, carers will need to provide proof of address, along with one of the following forms of identification:
A Carers Emergency Card
A Carers Card UK
A letter of recent contact from the Carers Support service
A letter of recent contact from the Carers Team
Evidence of receiving Carer’s Allowance
This offer recognises the vital role carers play in our communities and aims to support their physical and mental wellbeing through access to affordable fitness opportunities.

Comments Off on Pensioners can power up with free fitness fun
North Lincolnshire pensioners aged 66 and above are set to boost their health and wellness with the launch of NL Active’s free fitness initiative. This exciting program aims to encourage seniors to get active, boost their energy levels and connect with their community.
Participants can take advantage of free, off-peak access to the gym, swimming, and Les Mills Virtual fitness classes in NL Active facilities across North Lincolnshire.
Cllr Richard Hannigan cabinet member for adults and health, expressed his enthusiasm for the program and said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our senior residents to improve their health and well-being while socialising and staying active.
“We are leading the way in promoting fitness for all, creating opportunities for pensioners to thrive.
“This free program is bringing accessible fitness solutions straight to the heart of North Lincolnshire and I encourage every pensioner across the county to take advantage of this wonderful initiative.”
The Fit for Free offer will be available for eligible individuals to redeem until March 2026.
In addition to the core off-peak offer there will also be additional Fit for Free sessions and taster activities such as racket sports and walking sports timetabled throughout the year.
Existing NL Active members aged 66 plus will also benefit from this offer as payments will be suspended for two months meaning they too can keep fit for free.
Local residents aged 16 years and above with a learning disability can also take advantage of this great opportunity to get Fit for Free in NL Active facilities soon.

Juneau Projects are artists Philip Duckworth and Ben Sadler. They were invited to make a new artwork inspired by the Museum’s natural history collection. The artists focused on the collection of mounted bird specimens. They collaborated with scientists to look at the collection and local bird populations.
Juneau Projects also ran online workshops with people from the local area. The resulting artworks were combined to create a collaborative book and a sculpture for the Museum.
Curlew.
The exhibition is in the Victorian Parlour and the Ironstone Cottage courtyard. It features the sculpture created by Juneau Projects with members of the public. Peek through the Parlour window to see some of the bird collection that inspired the pieces. A film about the project is also on show. Buy a copy of the book on site in the Gift Shop, or online in the Shop.
